About Serena Ng

I'm a designer who's worn a lot of hats, including product research, UX/UI, visual design, development, and marketing. I've learned that the best solutions rarely stay inside one discipline.

I've worked shoulder-to-shoulder with engineers, marketers, and clients across startups and agencies. I care less about which hat I'm wearing and more about solving the right problem: the one with the most impact, and the one that holds up as the product grows.

Résumé

Product designer experienced in healthcare, cybersecurity, and enterprise tools. Designs with AI in the loop to prototype faster and close the gap between design and engineering.

Tools & skills

How this portfolio was built

Serena designed this portfolio in Figma, then built it with Anthropic's Claude — working iteratively in conversation to turn the designs into a live, responsive site — and deployed it herself through GitHub Pages on a custom domain.

Client work

Client work has spanned UX/UI, research, and visual design for organizations like Reuters Plus, JFK Airport, NBCUniversal, Ogilvy, Ecolab, PGIM, Leading Edge, and Flo. Marketing.

My journey

Childhood — Raised by a problem solver

My dad taught me to work smarter, not harder, and to design for real people in real contexts. When we kept losing our green garden tools in the grass, his fix was simple: tie on bright ribbons. I've been chasing better solutions ever since.

High school — Discovering design

I got into design in high school through a graphic design class. My teacher helped me get Adobe Creative Cloud over the summer, and I spent it working through every YouTube tutorial I could find.

High School / College — Exploring UX design

I picked up Adobe XD next, just to try it. Watching my static designs become interactive sparked my interest, and I fell in love with the whole UX process, from research to iteration.

Ronik Design — Working at an agency

My time at Ronik Design taught me to wear a lot of hats: graphic design, UX/UI, animation, often across several client projects at once. Constant feedback, revisions, and pitches made the work exciting and incredibly rewarding.

Now — Always learning and growing

Design is moving faster than ever. New tools are putting more power directly into designers' hands, and AI is already reshaping what UX even looks like.

I built this portfolio with Claude in a fraction of the usual time, so I've felt that shift first-hand. I'm excited for what's next and will keep exploring.
